To Improve Health Services

   The K.K.K. Program

Health is a basic human right, as affirmed during the 1978 Alma-Ata Convention Declaration. In order to attain, primary health care is the vital plan to the success of achieving the ultimate goal of better health for all, which is central to human happiness and well being. An important contribution to economic progress, as healthy populations live longer, are more productive and save more. The primary health care is an essential health care that should be universally acceptable to every household in the community by means of availability, affordability and sustainable health care. The Department of Health, as a leading institution in promoting primary health care has made a considerable progress since its declaration in making health as a basic right of the Filipino People.

In Barangay San Vicente, Municipality of Mahayag, Zamboanga del sur, the Primary Health Care is rendered in the Barangay Health Station (BHS), one of the many catchment areas served by one Rural Health Midwife. At the moment, the Barangay Health Station is not equipped with medicines, supplies and equipment to cater the needs of the community people. Though, the essential health programs and services are rendered in this community. The problem was presented to the community and showed concern for the need to equip the BHS. Thus, the “Kalusugan pangKalahatan ay Kahalagahan” was launched last 2012. This involves series of programs designed and planned to improve the Barangay Health Station services.
